Brief Guide to Hygienic Laundry Practices
Advice from Harmony and Electrolux
Storing and Sorting Dirty Laundry;
- Do not use anyother system for collecting dirty laundry other than se specific bags designed for this purpose.
- Bags used should be textile only, always be closed correctly once full, and should not be over filled.
- It must not come into contact with clean laundry
- The collection trolleys must be regularly cleaned and disinfected
- Do not store dirty linen for long periods
Washing;
- Develop a specific and safe approach for dirty laundry. For example Barrier Configuration.
- Use correct dosage of detergents and use batercidal products on all textiles washed at 60º or below.
Drying and Finishing;
- Store immediately what is processed, do not handle clean laundry more than necessary.
- For large flat linen, cotton or polycotton. Feed directly into ironer and straight to storage
- For items needing to be dried, do not dry on hangers.
- Ensure correct temperatures and times are adhered to.
Storage and Transport;
- Store laundry safely, covered in microporous film or in closed trolleys or cabinets.
- Storage places and vehicles should be cleaned regularly.
