Healthcare CQC Inspections for April 2009
The care sector has been independently regulated since 2002, April 2009 will see the fourth regulator come in to force. The Care Quality Commission (CQC) will be the new body. It will combine with the current inspectorate the Commission for Social Care Inspection, the Healthcare Commission and the Mental Capacity Act inspectorate in to one.
The impact of this on the car sector is that all NHS Hospitals, Care homes (private, voluntary and social service) will be inspected in exactly the same way and the inspectorate will have the power to temporarily close homes and even NHS wards and wings if required.
Linen is a vehicle for infection and as such has to be processed correctly from collecting, sorting, cleaning and transport back the patients’ rooms. As such it is vital that laundry equipment and practises meet Health and Safety guidelines. Harmony is working with Electrolux to help carry out a hygiene audit to check the laundry process is suitable for requirements and complies with the recommended guidelines. Harmony can help check existing Laundry Equipment and recommend suitable new if required.
