Rotary Young Chef Competition 2012
2nd Feb 2012
Harmony is once again sponsoring the Rotary Young Chef Competition. This year it is being held at St Benedict’s School in Whitehaven. Good luck to all the students taking part. The winner this year will receive a £200 voucher to spend with Harmony for their school.
Rotary District 1190 is in its fifteenth year of holding the Rotary Young Chef competition and it goes from strength to strength. Harmony has been involved in sponsoring this event for the last 3 years.
The hospitality industry relies heavily on quality food preparation and presentation and the youngsters of today are the providers of tomorrow. This initiative is a good opportunity to help strengthen the future of the hospitality industry, incidentally the largest employer in this country, with the exception of the Civil Service.
The objectives of the competition are to encourage young people to:
- Develop cookery skills
- Develop food presentation skills
- Consider healthy eating options
- Prove their organisational and planning skills
- Prove their ability to cope in a demanding situation
- Be aware of locally grown produce.
Good Luck again to everyone involved!!
